GIS 5945 Blog 4

I’ve been to my fair share of GIS events, from deep-dive technical days to informal 'map chats' over coffee. My favorite by far was a UWF event where people from all different departments displayed posters of their work. It was a fantastic way to see GIS in action across disciplines. I’d love to bring that energy back—maybe we could even carve out a specific spot for interdisciplinary GIS at a future UWF Scholar Symposium

I'm working on updating the St. Michael's Cemetery GIS data , with the eventual plan to create a new interface that will work better. Hopefully, the new map will be more searchable and will have a greater amount of information. Part of this process has been finding and adding information to the plot boundaries.  I've also identified a number of graves that were not recorded in the initial survey as well as the locations of some features being incorrect. This project is going to take more time than I had initially hoped due to the volume of errors that I had not realized was present.
